Ever consider who may have access to what you're posting online?

Let’s face it. Whether it’s scrolling, posting, or connecting with others, we spend a lot of time on social media. It’s important to know that regardless of your profiles being set to private or public, unsolicited eyes may be able to view your activity.

Taking some necessary steps online can help protect your privacy against the fraudsters. We’ve put together a list of ways to stay cyber safe on social media.

6 Ways to Stay Cyber Safe on Social Media

  • Review your privacy settings. Set your profile to private and reject social media platforms from sharing your data with other applications.
  • Be cautious of what personal information you’re posting. Never post your home address, email address, phone number, or other personal identifying information. Refrain from posting your current location.
  • Use strong and unique passwords. Avoid using the same password for each social media site.
  • Recognize and Report. Report suspicious activity like scams and fake profiles and delete unsolicited messages.
  • Only follow and interact with accounts you trust. Accepting unknown messages and friend requests from people you don’t know could lead to a phishing attempt.
  • Enable Multi-factor authentication where available. Using a two-step verification to log into an account provides an extra layer of security.
