BOS Announces the Retirement of Senior Vice President, Bob Cockrell

By BankSource on 4/10/2025

Today we celebrate Bob’s 20 years of dedication and leadership to Bank of Springfield.

Bob joined BOS and the financial department in 2005 after serving as a regulator with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. In 2007, Bob was promoted to Senior Vice President and appointed to the bank’s Senior Management leadership team. Throughout his time at BOS, Bob generously shared expertise and mentorship, and was instrumental in creating our collaborative culture.

"Bob has been an incredible, colleague, mentor, and friend, and his 20-year contribution will be remembered and appreciated for years to come! Thank you, Bob, for being a part of the BOS family and helping this bank grow to where we are today! I wish you the very best in your retirement.

- Jason Knoedler (CEO, Vice Chairman of the Board)

One of Bob’s passions outside of banking and numbers is his involvement in the community. Bob is a longtime volunteer with the Jubilee Habitat for Humanity, dating back to 2002. He has served in every role within the organization, including as President and more than twelve years as a board member. Bob was a math tutor with the High School Diploma Equivalency class at Lincoln Land Community College in Jacksonville.

"I never imagined I would love to learn and work with a former regulator this much. Bob and I never backed away from a complex argument (I prefer to call it a discussion). He taught me that when you listen to multiple sides it only can make you better and the plan better. No job was too big or too small for Bob. His contributions and leadership not only helped grow and develop the bank, but our team. Bob showed strength and knowledge where we, and I, needed it."

- Tom Marantz (Chairman of the Board)

We wish Bob all the best in his retirement!
